Xorartep's Song book
By Petra Fyde
This page is NOT playguide content and merely contains flights of my own imagination revolving round one of my characters.

Xorartep came into being as the result of a failed experiment by a novice Necromancer of Umbra. Trying to create life from death he instead succeeded only in creating undeath.
The Necromancer, in fear of his blunder being found out by his teacher, threw Xorartep out of the laboratory and into the street
Surviving on scraps and dim memories of her previous life Xorartep tried to make a living from her beloved music by singing for her supper.
Sadly the dulcet tones she heard with her memories and now imperfect hearing didn't quite match the sounds emitted by her undead throat. Where she heard 'canary' her new audience heard 'bull moose'.
She's still determined to earn her crust, if she can, and will sing her dittys at the slightest excuse, but she has come to the realisation that where before death they paid her to sing, now they will pay her to stop singing.

The Ballad of Jack and Nell

Strum your UO Lute, these lyrics fit that tune.
♪ Oh this is the tale of sailor Jack and our baker, Nell
As sad a tale as you'll ever hear and I'll ever tell
Jack told the lass that he to she was a kissing cousin
Then sailed away and left her with a bun in the oven ♪

♪ Well the yeast did rise, and the bun did grow, and the lass did cry
For the town all laughed at the little fool who believed his lie
In pain and shame the poor girl jumped from Magincia Docks
And now she lies neath a rough-hewn stone in a long pine box.♪

Jack's Tale

♪I'll tell you a tale of a local lad by the name of Jack
He sailed away on a summer's day and he ne'er came back
His ship was wrecked on a distant Isle and the crew was lost
Whilst he alone, by a stroke of luck, to the shore was tossed.♪

♪Now poor Jack wept on that distant shore, laying on the ground
then he walked for miles through the teeming woods till a temple found
By the sight of this he knew himself to be on the Isle of Fire
Then a dragon's breath brought a hasty death on a funeral pyre.♪

These two tragic songs actually have a happy ending.

Poor Jack's ghost, drawn by his true love of Nell, drifts over the ocean back to Magincia, where the ghosts of Nell and their child rise to meet him.

The three of them are now haunting happily ever after in a ruin just south of Trinsic.

Here's one you can sing along to, recorded for posterity by a good friend no longer found in Sosaria.

Old Minoc Fair

Are you going to old Minoc fair? Mandrake root, ginsing and black pearl
Remember me to one who lives there, he once was a true love of mine.

Tell him to make me a round metal shield, Mandrake root, ginsing and black pearl
Without no forge nor hammer to wield, then he'll be a true love of mine

Tell him to find me a large plot of land, Mandrake root, ginsing and black pearl
Between Minoc Moongate and the sea strand, then he'll be a true love of mine

Tell him to build me a circular home, Mandrake root, ginsing and black pearl
with no straight walls and an top a big dome, then he'll be a true love of mine

Are you going to old Minoc fair? Mandrake root, ginsing and black pearl
Remember me to one who lives there, he once was a true love of mine

Do You Know The Way to Skara Brae?

To the tune of 'Do you know the way to San Jose'
Do you know the way to Skara Brae?
I've been away so long. I may go wrong and lose my way.
Do you know the way to Skara Brae?
I'm going back to find some peace of mind in Skara Brae.

Luna was a great place to stay.
Bought a hundred things from near and far
Artifact, maybe two, to boost my AR
Britain through to Cove. how quick they passed
To Minoc Gate past Vesper shore
On Trinsic dock and travelling fast

Do you know the way to Skara Brae?
They've got a lot of space. there'll be a place where I can stay
I was born and raised in Skara Brae
I'm going back to find some peace of mind in Skara Brae.

Doom and Malas were a magnet.
Dungeons called me with their darkest foes
With a sword in my hand I faced them alone.
Now I'm weary of the constant fray
I'm headed home, I need to go
I packed my bag and start today

'Ive got lots of friends in Skara Brae
Do you know the way to Skara Brae?
Can't wait to get back to Skara Brae.
